Mathieu Libman

Award-winning animation director Mathieu Libman aims to make films with innovative design, whimsical and insightful storytelling, and (hopefully) some magic. A graduate from the Walt Disney-founded animation school at CalArts, Mathieu has worked with Disney, Netflix, JibJab, Chiodo Bros Productions, and more on a colorful mix of animated projects.

His short film, Pinky Toe, was Vimeo Staff Pick, Cartoon Brew Pick of the Day, and a finalist in the Student Academy Awards. His award-winning film, The Moon’s Not That Great, was Vimeo Staff Pick and screened at festivals around the world. His filmmaking emphasizes a mixed-media approach to grounded, meaningful, and earnest storytelling. He’s excited for you to see what he’s working on next at Breakwater!
