Isabel Cervantes is a screenwriter from Manhattan Beach, CA, whose fascination with storytelling sparked at a young age while watching the eerie, yet thought-provoking show, The Twilight Zone, with her parents. Since then, Isabel has explored writing and filmmaking across a wide range of genres, each rooted in creating stories of human connection and amplifying voices that aren’t often heard.

Proudly Latina, Isabel highlights the beauty of Mexican culture and the strength of resilient women in her writing. She explores the complexities of unconventional families and the diverse relationships within them, drawing inspiration from her family of Mexican and Cuban immigrants.

A graduate of the University of Southern California with a BFA in Writing for Screen & Television and a minor in Occupational Science, Isabel directed three student-run TV shows through Trojan Vision, and gained additional experience in documentary filmmaking, script coverage, sound design, and editing.

Alongside her passion for film, Isabel holds a deep love for education and advocacy. During her four years at USC, she mentored elementary to high school students through Troy Camp– an experience that later inspired her to teach 1st grade in Las Vegas before returning to Los Angeles to pursue storytelling full-time.

Isabel’s eclectic interests have fueled her love for documentaries and being part of the Breakwater Studios team, recognizing that some of the most powerful narratives are those that only real life can provide.
