For more than 25 years, Trevor has been helping companies use the power of story to drive exponential growth. Prior to joining Breakwater Studios as an Executive Producer, Trevor founded an entertainment company that produced premium short documentaries to help family foundations expand the effectiveness of their philanthropy, sold a documentary short series to Disney’s Freeform, and produced the feature-length documentary film titled SOUFRA that received positive reviews in the New York Time, LA Times, and was named one of INC Magazine’s “9 must-see documentaries for business leaders.” SOUFRA was featured at Berlinale, DOCNYC, and dozens of festivals before eventually being sold to Hulu, American Airlines, and multiple international territories.
Before then, Trevor was the President & CEO of Creative Visions Foundation, where he helped its founders grow the organization into a global force in the use of media and arts for positive change. He also provided production and distribution advice to over 150 documentary films, and helped to co-produce the long-awaited feature film, JOURNEY IS THE DESTINATION, which is now available on Netflix.
His government work included a role with the City of Chicago where he helped build a public/private partnership between the City and companies such as Boeing, United, and Motorola to promote Chicago’s international profile. As part of that work he also led a collaboration between National Geographic, Chicago Public Schools, and Yo Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project to help middle school students explore the stories of their ancestral roots.
Trevor’s approach to his work is founded in a Masters of Education from Harvard University. After receiving his degree, he was awarded a three-year fellowship to serve as a Head Teaching Fellow for Dr. Robert Coles, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author and professor. Trevor was a recipient of the Derek Bok Award for Excellence in Teaching in each of his three years. In 2010, he co-edited a collection of Dr. Coles’ lectures into the book titled, HANDING ONE ANOTHER ALONG, published by Random House. While teaching with Dr. Coles, Trevor served as Associate Editor of DoubleTake Magazine, a quarterly publication dedicated to showcasing literary and photographic essays that reveal extraordinary stories of everyday life. DoubleTake was a recipient of the National Magazine Award for General Excellence.
